Estimate (don’t measure!) the length of a typical car. Give your answer in both feet and meters. Briefly describe how you arrived at this estimate.

Solution:

The length of a typical car is 15 ft or

\displaystyle \left(15\:ft\right)\left(\frac{12\:inch}{1\:ft}\right)\left(\frac{1\:m}{39.37\:inch}\right)=4.6\:m         ☚

This length of 15 ft is approximately two-and-a-half times my height.
